“HOLLYWOOD, CA (5/28/08) — The 2008 Voice Awards ceremony took place at Paramount Studios in Hollywood, CA,
on Wednesday, May 28….The event celebrates the contributions of entertainment writers and producers as well as
mental health consumers to encourage others to join in the effort to educate people about mental illness and the
reality of recovery.”

“In life, sometimes the most powerful forms
of beauty are found in the harshest of places. From the rubble that was my life after a Bipolar diagnosis at the
age of thirty-two, I was fortunate to have found an Earth medicine that would help me, and thousands more around
the world, to recover from the ravages of mental illness. My canine beloved, who is the Spirit World now, showed
me that dogs are our best allies on a healing path that combines Psychiatry, Psychology, and Dog Medicine.
Psychiatric Service Dog partnership is a philosophy and a lifestyle that leverages trust, mutual respect, and the
skills of observation between a handler and her dog. It is a Mind/Body intervention, a form of timely biofeedback
that cultivates insight in those who take the time to listen. Thank you SAMHSA for recognizing this work and DOG
