What's This?
Conure & Inanna I'm schizophrenic with severe depression issues. I've also got anxiety problems which are directly related to the schizophrenia and depression. Some of my symptoms include delusions, disassociation, voices/feeling presences and physical sensations (ie: feeling people touching me when I am stressed). I self injure out of frustration and have suicidal tendencies. Besides being a body I can physically handle, Inanna is being trained to nip me in order to re-direct my thoughts when I'm having delusions. She is being taught to cuddle when my anxiety and depression are bad and to remind me to take my medications. I'm using a bird because of my housing arrangements. The laws here in Canada don't recognize PSD's, and my housing arrangements would kick me out if I tried. I did try and was flatly refused. Since I breed birds as a hobby I thought I'd try a bird after hearing about a Bi Polar fellow's African grey in the USA. His bird talks him out of anxiety attacks. So far I've been doing something similar with Inanna by asking her to cuddle when I feel a panic attack coming on. Inanna is still quite young and I've just started her socialization. Some of these tasks may change as she ages and her true gifts begin to shine.Back to Community Team
